Why a live on-site infection control course is preferable to an on-line course

In recent years physicians and nurses have had the option of taking the mandatory Infection Control and Barrier Precautions Course required for continued licensure in NY State on-line rather than attending live presentations.

The Center to Promote Health Care Studies provides numerous hospitals and medical groups live on-site courses, which have the following major benefits:

  1. Customized Course:  Our instructors, all of whom are intimately familiar with New York Metropolitan healthcare community issues, contact the facility prior to the class in order to determine if there are any existing conditions or issues that need to be included or emphasized in the presentation.  This allows our presenter an opportunity to explain / review infection control practices and issues specific to your facility.

  1. Interactive:  Unlike the on-line courses, we encourage your staff to ask questions or to get clarification about areas of confusion.  The question and answer portion of our presentation is often as important as the presentation itself.  It is useful for everyone to hear explanations from an outside authority.

  1. Beyond the cookie-cutter curriculum: Many on-line courses are generic.  Our instructors cover all of the material that is required by the state but will also cover information that is unique to what is going on in the NY Metropolitan area.  In addition, they we can discuss specific incidents or focus on specific patient populations unique to your facility.

  1. No Examination: Unlike on-line courses most of those persons attending our program appreciate the fact that there is no requirement for them to take an exam.

  1. Convenience to Staff:  Since our 1-½ hour programs are scheduled in advanced, staff members can attend directly prior to; during or following their shift time right at the work site.  As an employer you are making it extremely convenient for them to meet their responsibility to complete a course.

  1. Reinforcing Regulations:  Because this course is being delivered at your facility the staff member responsible for infection control will have an opportunity to attend and to follow up with your staff. This is an excellent way for your facility to remain compliant with infection control barrier precautions regulations.

  1. Team Building:  A live course provides an opportunity for staff members to interact with their fellow staff, to learn from one another and to share experiences.

We charge $35 per person with a minimum of 30 people for a live on-site infection control course.
